The cool days and chilly nights of fall call for a selection of lined suits designed with heavier fabrics. Wool is by far the most common suiting choice this time of year, but remember that not all wool is created equal. This versatile and durable material presents a variety of options when designing or selecting a suit.
Tweed fabric is created by combining three different colored yarns that are twilled, or woven, together. Because of its warmth and durability, tweed became the ideal outdoor cloth of English gentry in the 19th and early 20th centuries. There are endless ways to incorporate tweed in a variety of jackets, two- and three-piece suits. Wear this fabric during day events and less-formal weekend affairs.
A gray flannel suit is a statement piece that should be part of every well-rounded, cold-weather wardrobe. A dark gray or charcoal color is ideal for the classic wearer, while chalk-stripe or windowpane patterns present a more modern look. Incredibly warm and soft to the touch, this fabric works well for office and semi-formal use.
Herringbone is similar to tweed in its warmth and durability, but the distinctive zigzag pattern of the fabric gives an illusion of depth to present a truly eye-catching suit. (The name comes from the pattern’s resemblance to the skeleton of a herring fish.) Best in neutral colors like gray or beige, this fabric can be used in single pieces or full suiting.
Each fabric will have its own unique tendencies to attract dirt or stains. Whenever you can, simply brush your suit and hang in a well-ventilated area. Over dry cleaning can damage the fibres and prematurely age your garment.
Clad with an emblem of thoroughbreds, these perfume bottles solid, heavy and perfectly crafted for a man’s hand -- revives the opulent splendor of the 18th century.
Their design tells a story of extravagance. A time when a king, for the first time, bred thin Arabian race horses with heavy European Stock Horses creating powerful thoroughbreds, and then handpicked a gelding to race on royal castle grounds.
Their intoxicating aromas harken an era when King Louis XV demanded the halls, the apartments, the fountains of Château de Marly be fragranced by a different scent, each day.
But most of all, PARFUMS de MARLY tells the story of exquisite craftsmanship eagerly tempting you with the luxury of wearing a spritz of art.
Each bottle is handcrafted in France by revered glassmiths. Its contents are developed by perfumers who toil over creating scents that are distinct, refined and rich with history. As an artisanal perfume, its craft of creation is so refined and driven by passion that even though it can be appreciated by the inhaler, it can only truly be experienced by the wearer himself.
Named after King Louis XV two passions: thoroughbreds and perfumes, PARFUMS de MARLY was exclusively sold in Europe, until March. The brand opened a flagship store in Manhattan and explored continuing its reach into the U.S. market.
After meeting Diana and Jivesh and regaling in the J.TOOR boutique in the heart of the Michigan Avenue shopping corridor, the brand chose to bring the luxury line of perfumes to them, exclusively.
They also choose J.TOOR because of their attention to detail and consideration when aligning themselves with other brands.
"We highly respect the founders, Diana and Jivesh! They are both very professional and extremely passionate about their business and meeting their clients' needs", said a spokesperson for PARFUMS de MARLY.
The intensity and longevity of a perfume is based upon the concentration of the aromatic compounds, or perfume oils. As the percentage of aromatic compounds increases, so does the intensity and longevity of the scent:
• Parfum or extrait is pure perfume, composed of the highest concentration of oil to ethanol ratio.
• Eau de parfum is slightly more dilute than pure perfume.
• Eau de toilette is the least concentration of essential to ethanal and water ratio. It tends to not linger for long periods of time and the scent isn’t as rich.
Determined to endure in history and on your skin, PARFUMS de MARLY is developed of the highest quality of essential oils with limited ethanol and water mixed with it.
With a line of perfumes made to match each of King Louis XV thoroughbreds by name... two stand out as most desired.
With top notes of bergamot and saffron, Pegasus is bold and spicy, but it also carries a touch of almond, softening it. With base notes of amber, vanilla and sandalwood, it is also warm and inviting.
Named to honor the Galloway stallion, whose superior shape allowed it to adapt to the harsh climate and rocky mountains of Scotland in the 18th Century, this scent is powerful but elegant. With top notes of hesperides and pepper and base notes of musk and amber, and heart notes of iris and orange blossom, it is an unforgettable scent.
Acquascutum has a heritage rooted in World War function, a style that harkens Hollywood glamour and now J. Toor is bringing its iconic trench coat back to Chicago. Lighter than most, the Voyager MAC is breathable and packable and will certainly shield you from Chicago’s unpredictable weather.
The fascinating history dates back to 1851 and is one of few brands that are just as trusted today, as they once were. Two years into its tenure as a luxury menswear company, John Emary had his first patented product: waterproof wool. As a tailor and entrepreneur, it only followed that he develop a product that would be so invaluable, it would stand the test of time and never waver on quality. He did, and the result was Aquascutum, latin for “watershield.” The fabric was so highly revered, that the trench coats Emary created were exclusively used to don the shoulders of soldiers of both World Wars.
Many veterans returning to civilian life kept the coats that became fashionable for both men and women and still continues today.
Trench coats were initially intended as optional Army garb, earning its name from officers wearing them in the trenches. Here's why:
The Voyager Mac Trench Coat is styled on the Kingsway classic worn by the Casablanca heart breaker, Humphrey Bogart. But believe it or not, Bogart, who incidentally was a huge fan of Aquascutum, wasn’t the brand’s most legendary client. The fascinating history dates back to 1851 and is one of few brands that are just as trusted today, as they once were.
Durable, protective and elegant, the coats garnered a domestic appeal that was powerful enough to attract King Edward VII, the brand’s first royal client. It was a moment in the company’s history that propelled it to new heights.
And now, with the royal emblem in tow, Aquascutum has chosen to exclusively allow J.TOOR to market the coats at its Michigan Avenue location. The trench coats, lined with the Prince of Wales check, are lightweight and can be folded up and packed-away quickly. They’re ideal for the unpredictable Chicago weather that often seems to operate on a pendulum, swinging from extreme sunshine, to extreme storm-showers. Own a piece of the heritage, redefined.
J. TOOR offers exciting career opportunities and is always searching for the most creative, inspiring and dedicated people to join our team.
